Can you imagine how excited the folks at the Public Theater must have been when Anne Hathaway signed on to headline a benefit concert of songs from Cabaret? On October 24, Hathaway was joined at Joe’s Pub by her Les Miserables movie co-star Eddie Redmayne as Cliff, Harvey Fierstein as Herr Schultz and Linda Lavin as Fraulein Schneider. According to an account of the starry evening in the Village Voice, Hathaway, Redmayne and special guest Audra McDonald kicked off the evening with “Wilkommen,” Fierstein and Lavin dueted on “It Couldn’t Please Me More,” and Hathaway and McDonald, both of whom got married in recent weeks, sang “Married” as a salute to gay marriage. Click on for two snapshots provided by Harvey Fierstein, plus a backstage shot tweeted by Audra. What a fantastic event!
