Sometimes you really do want to go where everybody knows your name. Former Cheers barflys Rhea Perlman and Kirstie Alley will reunite on Alley’s previously announced TV Land sitcom Giant Baby, according to Deadline.com.
In Giant Baby, Alley plays Madison “Maddie” Banks, a Broadway diva who finds her life turned upside down when she finds the 26-year-old son she gave up for adoption on her doorstep, after his adoptive mother passed away. Perlman will play Thelma, Maddie’s long-suffering assistant and best friend who urges her to form a relationship with her son. No word yet on who will play Alley's son.
Perlman appeared on Broadway in The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife and off-Broadway in Love, Loss, and What I Wore and A Phantasmoria Historia of D. Johann Fausten Magister, PhD, MD, DD, DL, Etc. Perlman won four Emmy Awards for her role as Carla Tortelli on the long-running sitcom Cheers. Her other TV and film credits include Taxi, Matilda and The Sessions.
