Broadway has been home to a host of vibrant characters this year—and what better way to pay homage to them than dressing as your favorite this Halloween? From historical figures like Eva Peron, Charlie Chaplin and Judy Garland, to classic roles like Stanley Kowalski and Cyrano De Bergerac, Broadway fans have lots of options this Halloween. We asked readers which stage character they think makes the ultimate Halloween costume for 2012. The votes are in—check out this season’s most popular costumes below!
1. Campbell from Bring It On - 28%
Fans must have been impressed by Bring It On star Taylor Louderman’s high-flying Halloween costume tutorial, because she received a healthy 28% of votes! To get Campbell’s peppy look, wear a cheerleading uniform (preferably green!), a cheer bow and lightweight exercise shoes…You never know when someone will want to toss you to the top of the pyramid!
2. Bonnie Parker from Bonnie & Clyde - 25%
Grab your red dress, beret and bags of money, because Bonnie & Clyde outlaw Bonnie Parker ranked second place in the costume poll. “She’s beautiful, sexy and dangerous,” Bonnie & Clyde star Laura Osnes told Broadway.com in her Bonnie Parker costume tutorial. “Perfect Halloween combination.” Broadway fans think so, too!
3. Jack Kelly from Newsies - 12%
Whether he’s selling papes, starting a revolution or crooning “Santa Fe,” Jack Kelly from Newsies is a fan favorite, and Halloween is no exception. Create a convincing newsboy ensemble with a tattered dress shirt, a striped vest, grey pants, and of course, a newsboy cap. Just watch out for those pesky publishers!
Thanks for voting and Happy Halloween!
