A handful of young Broadway stars will lend their powerful vocal chops to Broadway Sings Beyonce, a one-night-only concert at (Le) Poisson Rouge in the West Village on December 3. The event will feature songs from Beyonce’s catalogue, with music direction and arrangements by Joshua Stephen Kartes.
Slated to perform are Andy Mientus (Smash), Jason Gotay (Bring It On), Emma Hunton (Spring Awakening), Marcus Paul James (In the Heights), Kate Rockwell (Bring It On), Saycon Sengbloh (Fela!), Adam Kantor (Avenue Q), Alysha Umphress (American Idiot), Brian Justin Crum (Next to Normal), Eric Michael Krop (Godspell) and Corey Mach (Godspell). Also scheduled to appear are Russell Fischer (Jersey Boys), Lilli Cooper (Spring Awakening), Sheri Sanders (Fame), Ryah Nixon (9 to 5), Alexa Green (Wicked), Kristine Reese (Mamma Mia!), Mariand Torres (Wicked), Shaleah Adkisson (Rent), Lulu Hall, Margot Bingham, and Amber Iman (Rent).
The concert is the third in a series of Broadway Sings events, with previous tributes honoring Adele and Michael Jackson. Get in Beyonce mode by watching her perform "Listen" from the Dreamgirls movie at the 2007 Grammys.
