Sorry, '90s grunge fans! Broadway won't smell like teen spirit anytime soon. Reports surfaced recently that music manager Sam Lutfi was working with Courtney Love on a musical about her late husband Kurt Cobain and his band Nirvana. Love however has squashed those rumors.
"There will be no musical," Love told the U.K.'s Guardian. "Sometimes it's best just to leave things alone," Love said. "I got so bullied into selling what I sold," she said of selling the rights to the band's music. "I regret it so much. I'm never selling the rest of it."
Nirvana formed in 1987 and went on to establish itself as one of the most famous grunge bands in the world, releasing a number of successful songs like “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “Heart-Shaped Box,” “About A Girl,” “Come As You Are” and “Lithium.” Love has been embroiled in several legal battles with the surviving members of the band over song rights. She recently decided to sell a significant portion of the rights to Nirvana’s catalogue to Primary Wave Music Publishing.
