Matt Doyle will join the Broadway company of The Book of Mormon as Elder Price, a production spokesperson confirmed to Broadway.com. Doyle will replace current star Nic Rouleau, who has been tapped to lead the second national tour of the show when it kicks off in Chicago on December 11.
Doyle made his Broadway debut as a swing in Spring Awakening, later taking on the role of Hanschen. He starred in that show's national tour before returning to Broadway as Hugo Peabody in the revival of Bye Bye Birdie and Billy Narracott in War Horse.
Featuring a book and score by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, The Book of Mormon follows two mismatched Mormon missionaries as they are sent to Uganda to spread their religion. Upon arrival they learn their training may not have quite prepared them for the many challenges they are about to face. The current Broadway cast features Cale Krise as Elder Cunningham, Rory O’Malley as Elder McKinley, Tony winner Nikki M. James as Nabalungi and Michael Potts as Mafala Hatimbi.
