December 25 is shaping up to be quite the day for Les Miserables fans. Not only does the film hit theaters on Christmas Day, but the movie's soundtrack will be released on the same day...ensuring you can blast Anne Hathaway’s rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” during the car ride home! No track listing for the album has been revealed, however all of the songs from the musical are expected to be included in the film, as well as a new number sung by Hugh Jackman.
Directed by Tom Hooper, the film adaptation of the hit musical Les Miserables will star Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Javert, Hathaway as Fantine, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thenardier, Sacha Baron Cohen as Thenardier, Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Samantha Barks as Eponine and Aaron Tveit as Enjolras.
Les Miserables originally premiered in London at the Barbican Arts Center in 1985 before opening on Broadway in 1987. The production transferred from the Broadway Theatre to the Imperial Theatre in 1990, and played a total of 6,680 performances before closing in 2003. The musical features songs including “A Heart Full of Love,” “One Day More,” “Do You Hear the People Sing?” “In My Life” and of course, “I Dreamed a Dream.”
