The new musical Scandalous, starring Tony nominee Carolee Carmello, Broadway belter Roz Ryan and Tony winner George Hearn, opened at Broadway’s Neil Simon Theatre on November 15, and, thanks to the show’s scribe and lyricist Kathie Lee Gifford, there were more stars at this opening than in the sky! Directed by David Armstrong with music by David Pomeranz and David Friedman, Scandalous follows the ups and downs of superstar revivalist Aimee Semple McPherson (Carmello), a woman whose passion for saving souls equaled her passion for making headlines and attracting crowds. And the crowd sure came out for opening; Kris Jenner, Matt Lauer, Regin Philbin, Hoda Kotb and more attended the performance and the lavish bash at the Copacabana afterward.
