Tony nominee Marin Ireland has joined the cast of the upcoming FOX drama The Following, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Ireland will play Amanda, a sweet but fragile woman. She will appear in the series' ninth episode, with the potential to become a recurring character.
The Following comes from creator/writer Kevin Williamson (The Vampire Diaries) and stars Kevin Bacon as an FBI agent who sets out to catch a serial killer. The murderer, played by James Purefoy, commands an entire cult of serial killers who work together and follow his every instruction.
Ireland recently appeared on the Showtime hit Homeland. She made her Broadway debut in Reasons to Be Pretty, which earned her a Tony nomination. She has also appeared on Broadway in After Miss Julie and off-Broadway in Maple and Vine, Three Sisters, In the Wake, A Lie of the Mind, The Ruby Sunrise and Manuscript. Her film and TV credits include Boss, The Killing, Revolutionary Road and I Am Legend.
