Zelda at the Oasis, a new bio play about the life of infamous starlet Zelda Fitzgerald, opens December 4 at off-Broadway’s St. Luke’s Theatre. Directed by Andy Sandberg, the new play by P.H. Lin stars Gardner Reed as Zelda and Edwin Cahill as Bar Man.
The new drama tells the story of Zelda (Reed) as she escapes to a New York City bar called The Club Oasis to drink on her own. She strikes up a friendship with the bartender (Cahill), an aspiring musician who plays the piano. Zelda, who longs to escape her husband’s (The Great Gatsby writer F. Scott Fitzgerald) shadow and be recognized for her own artistic merit, recounts stories from her past. As Zelda shares her sorrows, the man begins to transform into characters who have shaped her life.
The creative team for Zelda at the Oasis includes set designer Colin McGurk, costume designer Dustin Cross, lighting designer Grant Yaeger and sound designer Daniel Melnick.
