There’s only a few short weeks until the Les Misérables film hits the big screen! After catching glimpses of some of the musical's big numbers, we asked readers which solo performance in the movie they were the most excited to hear. Check out the results below!
1. Samantha Barks Singing "On My Own" – 32%
Barks has the distinction of being the only Les Miz film star who has also played her role onstage. After gaining attention in the BBC competition series I’ll Do Anything, Barks made her West End debut as Eponine in the revival of the hit Cameron Mackintosh musical. Barks reprised her role in the 25th Anniversary Les Misérables concert at the O2 Arena. With all of this Eponine experience under her belt, it’s no wonder fans are anxious to see Barks make her major motion picture debut!
2. Anne Hathaway Singing "I Dreamed a Dream" – 31%
Anne Hathaway has been getting some serious Oscar buzz after her haunting and gritty take on “I Dreamed a Dream” debuted in the film’s preview. Hathaway has a history with the song, as her mother once played the role of Fantine on tour!
3. Hugh Jackman Singing "Bring Him Home" – 12%
Although he’s best known as Wolverine in the X-Men films, Jackman is no stranger to the stage. After making his Broadway debut in The Boy From Oz (and winning a Tony for his performance!), the versatile performer is finally starring in a big flashy movie musical. Fans are excited to hear his take on “Bring Him Home,” an emotional ballad that Jean Valjean sings to Marius after he is injured on the barricades.
