Broadway vets Lindsay Mendez, Julia Murney and Tituss Burgess will sing holiday songs alongside stage vet Derek Klena, The Glee Project alum Ali Stroker and more in Backstage For Christmas: A Holiday Cabaret. The benefit will play a one-night-only engagement on December 17 at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre Performance Space.
The cabaret will benefit ASTEP, an organization that connects at-risk youth with performing and visual artists. ASTEP founder and Broadway musical director Mary-Mitchell Campbell (The Addams Family) will produce and musical direct the evening. Damien Bassman will play drums and percussion, accompanying Campbell on piano.
Mendez appeared in Godspell, Everyday Rapture and Grease on Broadway, and off-Broadway in Dogfight. Murney’s Broadway credits include Wicked and Lennon. Burgess appeared in Guys and Dolls, The Little Mermaid, Jersey Boys and Good Vibrations on Broadway. Klena, who starred alongside Mendez in Dogfight, has also appeared in Carrie off-Broadway. Stroker was a runner-up on season two of The Glee Project.
