Debra Jo Rupp will channel famous sex therapist Dr. Ruth in Dr. Ruth, All the Way when the solo show heads to TheaterWorks in Hartford, Connecticut. Written by Mark St. Germain (Freud’s Last Session), the play will begin performances May 31. The Julianne Boyd-helmed production will run through July 7.
Dr. Ruth, All the Way details the life of pioneering radio and TV sex therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer (Rupp), born Karola Ruth Siegel. From fleeing the Nazis in the Kindertransport and joining the Haganah in Jerusalem as a scout and sniper, to her struggles to succeed as a single mother, the one-woman play documents Dr. Ruth's funny and touching adventures. Dr. Ruth, All the Way originally premiered at the Barrington Stage Company in 2012.
Best known as Kitty Forman on TV’s That ‘70s Show, Rupp appeared on Broadway in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Her addition film and TV credits include She’s Out of My League, Big, Death Becomes Her and Better With You.
The creative team for Dr. Ruth, All the Way includes set and projection designer Brian Prather, lighting designer Scott Pinkney, costume designer Jennifer Mueller, wig designer Gabriella Pollino-Rodman and sound designer Jessica Paz.
