Great news, ballerinas! Two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster will be pirouetting back to the small screen in an all-new season of Bunheads on January 7. Created by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls) and co-starring Tony winner Kelly Bishop, Bunheads stars Foster as Michelle Simms, a down-on-her-luck Vegas showgirl who moves to Paradise, California, to teach at her mother-in-law’s dance studio. While we eagerly wait for new episodes full of toe-tapping musical numbers, quick-witted banter and hilarious physical comedy, let’s revisit Foster’s best Bunheads moments from the show’s first season.
“There’s something in my bed!” — Michelle wakes up to find herself in a compromising position with a “pointy furry long-tailed thing with little hand claws.” Although the possum is adorable, Foster's spot-on comic timing steals the show!
“I’m freakin’ new!” — After her car breaks down, Michelle gets into a hilarious argument with her tow-truck driver about trespassing on a private road. Foster tackles Palladino's signature banter with ease in this memorable scene.
“Surf wax. Surf wax. Surf wax.” — When Michelle shows her Vegas showgirl friend Talia around Paradise, she tries to explain what it’s like to live in a small town. Two words: Surf wax.
“Maybe This Time” — In a surreal dance sequence, Michelle dreams of finally finding love and success after years of difficult times. With moves like these, it's no surprise Foster has two Tony Awards on her mantle.
“My eyes are melting!” — Michelle causes chaos at the Paradise Dance Academy production of The Nutcracker when she accidentally maces the cast, leaving Bunheads viewers with a hilarious cliffhanger.
“That ain’t real.” — Last but certainly not least, Foster hosts a behind-the-scenes tour of the Bunheads set for Broadway.com! Get a peek at Foster's dressing room and chat with the ballerinas (who obviously love Sutton as much as we do!) in this exclusive video.
