A musical adaptation of the kinky bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey is heading off-Broadway, according to Time.com. Created by the comedy group Baby Wants Candy, 50 Shades! The Musical will play the Gramercy Theater on January 11 and 12.
Directed by Albert Samuels, 50 Shades! The Musical opens at a book club for middle-aged women. The ladies are reading E.L. James’ sexual thriller Fifty Shades of Grey, about a young twenty-something girl’s wild affair with a wealthy, older man, Christian Grey. Songs include “They Get Nasty,” “I Don’t Make Love, I “F#*!” and “There’s a Hole Inside of Me.” This musical is intended for audiences 18 years or older. The show has previously played at Chicago’s Apollo Theatre and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.
Unfortunately, it looks as though hunky stage vet Cheyenne Jackson will not be taking on the role of dominant sexual master Christian Grey, as Broadway.com readers’ had hoped.
