Christina Kirk will star as a "neglected, hot, depressed stay at home mom" in the upcoming NBC comedy pilot The Gates, according to Deadline.com.
Created by The King of Queens duo Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith, The Gates is based on the British comedy of the same name. The series revolves around the parents and staff who navigate the twice-daily social landmine that exists at the school drop-off gates of an elementary school. The show centers on Helen, a type-A personality and career-oriented mom, who just moved to town with her husband Mark, and their eight year-old daughter. Kirk will play a fellow mom who begins a flirtatious relationship with the married Mark.
Kirk recently appeared as Marnie's boss on HBO's Girls. She made her Broadway debut in Well, followed by Clybourne Park, reprising a role she originated off-Broadway. Kirk's other off-Broadway credits include God’s Ear, A Lifetime Burning and Knickerbocker. Her TV and film credits include Melinda and Melinda, Along Came Polly, Taking Woodstock, The Good Wife and Law & Order.
