Manhattan Theatre Club has attracted five hot stars for its annual winter benefit: Tony nominees Jonathan Groff (Spring Awakening, Glee), Sherie Rene Scott (Everyday Rapture, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) and Will Swenson (Hair, Priscilla Queen of the Desert) will be joined by Broadway vets Lindsay Mendez (Godspell, Dogfight) and Betsy Wolfe (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) at the gala event, to be held on Monday, January 28, at the Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Fredrick P. Rose Hall. MTC artistic director Lynne Meadow will direct.
Dubbed “An Intimate Night,” the benefit will include cocktails and dinner followed by a cabaret show featuring the five talented singers. The evening’s creative team will include John Lee Beatty (set), Anthony Pearson (lighting) and Dan Gerhard (sound).
Proceeds from An Intimate Night will support MTC’s efforts to produce contemporary plays on and off-Broadway.
