Sierra Boggess is back on Broadway beginning January 21, starring as Christine Daae as part of the 25th anniversary cast of The Phantom of the Opera. Boggess will perform Tuesday through Saturday evenings as well as the Saturday matinee, with Christine alternate Samantha Hill performing on Monday evenings and Wednesday matinees. Boggess will perform through March 2, with a special gala performance scheduled for January 26, the musical’s 25th anniversary.
The Phantom of the Opera is the longest-running production in Broadway history. Directed by Hal Prince, the musical features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart and Richard Stilgoe and a book by Stilgoe and Webber. In addition to Boggess, Phantom stars Hugh Panaro as the Phantom, Kyle Barisich as Raoul, Michele McConnell as Carlotta, Ellen Harvey as Madame Giry and Kara Klein as Meg Giry.
Boggess made her Broadway debut in The Little Mermaid, winning the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for Favorite Breakthrough Performance. She has starred on Broadway in Master Class and in the West End production of Les Misérables as Fantine. She previously played Christine in the Las Vegas production of Phantom, as well as in the musical’s sequel, Love Never Dies, in the West End. She starred opposite Ramin Karimloo in the musical’s London anniversary celebration at Royal Albert Hall in 2011.
