Oscar is breaking out his dancing shoes. Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, producers of the 85th Academy Awards, announced the upcoming telecast will feature a special tribute to movie musicals of the last decade. The segment will honor movies including Chicago, Dreamgirls and Les Miserables.
“The musical as a motion picture genre has had a remarkable renaissance in the last decade,” said Zadan and Meron in a statement. “We are excited to showcase three musical films—Chicago, Dreamgirls and Les Miserables—on our Oscar show.”
The ceremony will air live on February 24, and will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane. The telecast will also feature a performance by Adele, in addition to an unprecedented reunion of all six James Bond actors. A number of Broadway stars are nominated for Oscars this year, including Hugh Jackman, Jessica Chastain, Denzel Washington, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bradley Cooper and Alan Arkin.
