In honor of Tina Fey’s upcoming musical adaptation of Mean Girls, Broadway.com decided to revisit some of our favorite theater mean girls from musicals past. Plenty of shows have featured their share of catty, spunky and fearless divas walking the stage, and we just couldn’t decide which gal is our favorite! That’s why we asked readers to pick the ultimate in Broadway bitchiness. So who rules the school as your favorite mean girl? Check out the results below!
1. Galinda (Wicked) — 15%
Remember: Before she was a good witch, Galinda with a “ga” was a decidedly mean teen. Students at Shiz University (and Broadway.com readers) know that no one ruled the halls better than this blonde princess.
2. Mrs. Lovett (Sweeney Todd) — 12%
She may be a sympathetic anti-heroine, but let’s be honest: Nice girls do not cook people in pies. Fans love to hate this hot-tempered baker, whose climactic encounter with a scorching oven is way worse than any high school gym class.
3. Rizzo (Grease) — 9%
There are worse things you could do than vote for Rizzo as your third favorite mean girl. Rydell High's resident bad girl was no stranger to fast car rides, cigarettes and pregnancy scares!
Thanks for voting!
