The cast of the Oscar-winning film Chicago— Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellweger, Richard Gere and Queen Latifah—will reassemble on February 24 for this year’s Academy Awards telecast.
The foursome will reunite to present together onstage, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the film’s Best Picture victory. Zellweger, Zeta-Jones and Latifah were all nominated for their performances in the 2002 film, with Tony winner Zeta-Jones winning Best Supporting Actress. The film went on to win five more Oscars including Art Direction, Costume Design and Best Picture.
The Chicago reunion is on par with the musical-minded way this year’s telecast is shaping up, thanks in no small part to producers (and musical theater honchos) Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. This year’s Oscars will include a performance by Barbra Streisand and tributes to Chicago, Dreamgirls and Les Miserables. Because the show is hosted by mega Broadway fan Seth MacFarlane, audiences can probably expect at least one showstopping musical number from the Sinatra-voiced singer himself.
