Three-time Tony nominee Marc Kudisch is set to star as Robinson in Portland Center Stage's world premiere production of the new musical Somewhere in Time. Directed by Scott Schwartz, the production will begin performances May 28, with an official opening night set for June 5. Additional casting will be announced soon.
Based on Richard Matheson's novel and the film adaptation of the same name, Somewhere in Time follows a young playwright named Richard Collier who has an encounter with a mysterious old woman on the opening night of his earliest success. Several years later, with his life and career in disarray, Collier seeks quiet and checks in to a hotel from his youth. But his stay at the hotel turns into the journey of a lifetime as he unravels history and time to discover a powerful but perhaps impossible love. The tuner features music and lyrics by Doug Katsaros and Amanda Yesnowitz and a book by Ken Davenport.
Kudisch received Tony nominations for his performances in 9 to 5, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Thoroughly Modern Millie. His other Broadway credits include The Apple Tree, Assassins, Bells Are Ringing, The Wild Party, High Society, Beauty and the Beast and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Kudisch's TV and film credits include Smash, Blue Bloods and Sex and the City.
