John Lloyd Young and Jan Maxwell to Announce Drama Desk Award Nominations

It may still be winter, but the spring awards season is starting to show signs of life in New York. Drama Desk winners John Lloyd Young and Jan Maxwell are set to announce nominations for the 58th Annual Drama Desk Awards on April 26.

Young and Maxwell will reveal this year’s nominees (which recognize Broadway, off-Broadway and off-off Broadway talent) during a news conference at 54 Below. The Drama Desk Awards ceremony will then take place on May 19 at Town Hall. The show is written by Bill Rosenfield and will be directed by the Transport Group's artistic director, Jack Cummings III.

Young earned a Tony, Drama Desk and Theatre World Award for his role as Frankie Valli in the original Broadway cast of Jersey Boys. He recently returned to the hit musical to once again lead the Four Seasons. Maxwell, recently a Tony nominee for 2012’s Follies, is also an eight-time Drama Desk nominee, having won twice for The Royal Family and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
