Thanks to producing duo Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, the Oscars are practically getting a Broadway makeover, complete with tributes to movie musicals like Chicago, Dreamgirls and of course, the Oscar-nominated Les Misérables. A full roster of performers for the telecast has now been revealed, which includes Oscar winners Jennifer Hudson and Catherine Zeta-Jones, as well as the (almost) fully-assembled cast of Les Miz.
The official line-up of live performers from Les Miz will include Oscar nominees Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway, as well as stars Russell Crowe, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne and Helena Bonham Carter. Although no specific numbers have been confirmed, the performance is likely to be a movie musical mash-up of epic proportions, also featuring Dreamgirls Oscar winner Hudson and Chicago winner Zeta-Jones.
But wait, there’s more! In addition to the Les Miz, Dreamgirls and Chicago alums, the ceremony will include performances by Adele, Dame Shirley Bassey, Norah Jones and Barbra Streisand, as previously reported. "We are pleased to have been able to amass so much talent to create the celebration of musicals of the last decade that we envisioned,” Zadan and Meron said in a statement. “We are thrilled that so many talented actors have agreed to bring our vision to life.” Um, so are we!
If that weren’t enough excitement, Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth and Oscar host (not to mention huge Broadway fan) Seth MacFarlane will conclude the evening with a grand finale! Broadway vets like Jessica Chastain, Paul Rudd, Daniel Radcliffe, Meryl Streep, Christopher Plummer, Samuel L. Jackson and more will also take the stage at the telecast. February 24 can’t come soon enough!
