As if Laura Osnes weren’t busy enough with balls and feasts in Cinderella, the actress is heading to the studio to record a tribute album to famed composer Maury Yeston. The Broadway sweetheart previously took on Yeston's work at her sold-out 54 Below concert engagement last fall. Produced by PS Classics, Laura Osnes Sings Maury Yeston will be released on June 4.
Yeston, a two-time Tony Award winner, penned the scores of beloved musicals such as Nine, Titanic and Grand Hotel. While no official track listing has been announced for the album, a selection of Yeston tunes not performed at Osnes' concert will also be included.
Osnes burst onto the Broadway scene after winning a reality competition series that landed her the leading role in Grease. She went on to star in South Pacific, Bonnie & Clyde (for which she won a Broadway.com Audience Choice Award and was nominated for a Tony Award) and Anything Goes. She currently plays the title character in Rodger’s & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, which officially opens March 3 at the Broadway Theatre. This will mark the second album for Osnes, who released a recording of her Cafe Carlyle engagement Dream a Little Dream last year.
