R&B music superstars Brian McKnight and Angie Stone have signed on to lead the national tour of the new play Love Lies. The tour is set to kick off at the Warner Theatre in Washington D.C., where it will run April 1 through 7. The show will then head to Miami, FL, Baltimore, MD, Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL. Additional venues and dates will be announced soon.
Written and directed by three-time Tony winner Hinton Battle (Miss Saigon, The Wiz), Love Lies is the tale of three women who arrive at a funeral only to discover they were all engaged to the same dead man. In this story of love, lies and betrayal, sparks don’t just fly, they explode, as the ghost of the deceased watches from beyond. McKnight will play Harrison Brown, with Stone taking on the role of Victoria Davis.
In addition to McKnight and Stone, the cast of Love Lies features Battle as Pastor Milkum, Elise Neal as Kim Anderson, Crystal Aikin as Mother Harrison, Kier Spates as Funeral Director and Amber A. Harris as Pam Jackson.
McKnight made his Broadway debut in Chicago as a replacement Billy Flynn in 1997. His music has earned him 16 Grammy Award nominations. McKnight's TV credits include Celebrity Apprentice and The Brian McKnight Show. Stone also made her Broadway debut in Chicago in 2003 as Matron "Mama" Morton. Her film and TV credits include The Hot Chick, The Fighting Temptations, The Wonder Girls, Moesha, Girlfriends, One on One and Lincoln Heights.
