It's about Time! Broadway vet David Cryer and more will join previously announced stars Ryan Silverman, Hannah Elless and three-time Tony nominee Marc Kudisch in the world premiere musical adaptation of Somewhere in Time at Oregon's Portland Center Stage. Directed by Scott Schwartz, the new musical features music by Doug Katsaros, lyrics by Amanda Yesnowitz and a book by Ken Davenport. Somewhere in Time begins performances May 28, with an opening night scheduled for June 5.
In addition to Silverman as Richard Collier, Elless as Elise McKenna, Kudisch as Robinson and Cryer as Arthur, Somewhere in Time will feature ensemble members Leslie Becker, Giovanni Bonaventura, Erin Burniston, Meggie Cansler, Cory English, Leslie Flesner, Lizzie Klemperer, Erik Liberman, Sharonlee McLean, Jared Miller, Benjie Randall and Tad Wilson.
Based on the Richard Matheson novel and the 1980 film of the same name, Somewhere in Time tells the story of Richard Collier (Silverman), a young playwright who has a strange encounter with a mysterious, older woman on the opening night of his first play. Several years later, after his career and life have fallen into shambles, Richard checks into a hotel he frequented in his youth. But his stay at the hotel turns into a journey of a lifetime as he unravels history and time to uncover a powerful (but maybe impossible) love.
Cryer’s Broadway credits include 1776, Come Summer, Ari, The Desert Song, Evita, Coastal Disturbances, The Phantom of the Opera, Chess, The Devil’s Disciple and Lend Me a Tenor. His film and TV credits include All My Children, As the World Turns, Escape From Alcatraz, American Gigolo and Law & Order. He is the father of Two and a Half Men star Jon Cryer.
