Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan is on his way to becoming a full-fledged movie star! The actor made headlines last week when we reported that he will star in Richard LaGravenese’s big screen adaptation of The Last Five Years. Jordan will play successful novelist Jamie opposite Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick as his wife Cathy.
“It’s a dream come true,” Jordan recently told Broadway.com of landing the role. “It’s any musical theater lover’s dream come true. I grew up with [the musical] in college. It’s kind of still surreal to me. I’m a little bit in denial."
So has the current Smash star connected with his onscreen "Shiksa Goddess" Kendrick? “I haven’t met her yet," he said of his Oscar and Tony-nominated co-star. "I thought maybe she would e-mail me, but I don’t know.” Anna, if you need help contacting Jeremy, just let us know, and we’ll be happy to put you two in touch!
Jordan is currently appearing in households nationwide as bad boy Jimmy Collins on NBC’s Smash. He received a Tony nomination and two Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards in 2012 for originating the role of Jack Kelly in Newsies. He has also wowed Broadway audiences in Bonnie & Clyde, West Side Story and Rock of Ages.
No release date has been set for The Last Five Years film, so before it hits the big screen, fans of Jason Robert Brown's musical can get their fix when Second Stage's anticipated revival begins its run on March 7.
