Sean Hayes' first outing as a guest star on Smash didn't help attract any new viewers. As the show's latest musical Liaisons entered the picture, the fifth episode of season two marked the series' latest low mark. The episode pulled in just 2.62 million viewers, according to TVLine.com.
The downward slope has been consistent for the show's ratings since its season two premiere last month. The initial episode took in 4.5 million viewers, and in recent weeks ratings have hovered around the 3 million mark.
This week's episode found many of the characters dropping the ball on their duties: Famous TV star Terrance Falls (Hayes) totally missed the point of his role in Liaisons, and Kyle (Andy Mientus) realized he may not be cut out to craft Hit List's book.
