Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Zach Galifianakis and Michael Keaton are coming to Broadway...on the big screen at least. The stars have signed on to appear in Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu's new dark comedy Birdman, which revolves around the staging of a new Broadway play, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Birdman follows a washed up movie star (Keaton) who is known for playing a famous superhero. In an attempt to reclaim his former glory, he decides to stage a Broadway play based on a story by essayist and novelist Raymond Carver. Keaton should have some insight into the role thanks to his years playing Bruce Wayne in 1989 superhero flick Batman and its sequel Batman Returns. Stone will play his daughter, who recently left rehab to become his assistant. Watts will take on the role of the fictional production's leading lady, while Galifianakis will play its ruthless producer.
Shooting for the film is expected to begin in April.
