Dates Set for Broadway Cares' 27th Annual Easter Bonnet Competition

The Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS 27th Annual Easter Bonnet Competition will take place on April 22 at 4:30 PM and April 23 at 2 PM at the Minskoff Theatre. The fundraiser features performances and presentations from the companies of many Broadway, off-Broadway and touring productions. Proceeds from the event will benefit BC/EFA. Hosts, judges and special guests for this year's competition will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

An annual Broadway tradition, the Easter Bonnet Competition is the conclusion of six intensive weeks of fundraising efforts by participating productions on and off-Broadway, as well as on tour. Curtain speeches, autographed poster and program sales, auctions and cabaret performances bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars from theatergoers prior to the competition. The winner of the competition will be the company that raises the largest amount of money for BC/EFA. Another award is granted to the company with the best bonnet design and presentation. Honors are also given to the Broadway play, national tour and off-Broadway production raising the most money for BC/EFA.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is the nation’s leading industry-based, non-profit AIDS fundraising and grant-making organization. By drawing upon the talents, resources and generosity of the American theater community, BC/EFA raises funds for AIDS-related causes and other critical illnesses across the United States. The 26 previous editions of the Easter Bonnet Competition have raised more than $49 million for Broadway Cares, including $3,677,855 from last year’s competition.
