Honeymoon in Vegas Musical, Starring Tony Danza, to Have Pre-Broadway Run at Paper Mill Playhouse

The world premiere of the Broadway-bound musical Honeymoon in Vegas will kick off the 2013-14 season at New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse.  Starring Tony Danza and directed by Gary Griffin, the musical will run September 26 through October 17. No further casting has been announced at this time.

Based on the 1992 movie of the same name, Honeymoon in Vegas is the story of Jack Singer, a commitment-phobe who finally proposes to his girlfriend Betsy. The couple heads to Vegas to get hitched, but when wealthy gambler Tommy Korman (Danza) falls in love with Betsy (who bears a striking resemblance to his late wife), he arranges for Jack to lose big in a poker game so he can claim the bride-to-be as his own girlfriend.  The musical features music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and a book by Andrew Bergman. The show had been set to premiere in Toronto in November 2012, although plans for the production were later canceled.

Best known for his roles on Who’s the Boss? and Taxi, Danza appeared on Broadway in The Producers, A View From the Bridge and The Iceman Cometh. His film credits include Crash, Angels in the Outfield, She’s Out of Control, A Brooklyn State of Mind and The Hollywood Knights.

The Paper Mill season will also include Oliver! (November 21 through December 29), The Other Josh Cohen (February 19, 2014 through March 16), South Pacific (April 9 through May 4) and Grease (May 28 through June 29).
