Kathleen Chalfant is going Somewhere Fun this spring! The Tony nominee will star in the previously announced world premiere of Jenny Schwartz’s new play. Directed by Anne Kauffman, Somewhere Fun will begin previews May 15 at off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre, with an official opening night on June 4.
Somewhere Fun tells the story of Rosemary and Evelyn, two women who met “a hundred years ago” in Central Park when their children were barely born, and who are reunited on Madison Avenue one windy fall day 35 years later. With their children now grown and the world changing rapidly before (what’s left of) their eyes, each finds herself face to face with the terrors, joys and surprises of life and time.
Joining Chalfant in the cast are Kate Mulgrew (Equus), Makenna Ballard (A Little Game), Richard Bekins (Love! Valour! Compassion!), Griffin Birney (Billy Elliot), Brooke Bloom (Lungs), Greg Keller (Belleville), Maria Elena Ramirez (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) and Mary Shultz (Go Back to Where You Are).
Chalfant earned a Tony nomination for Angels in America: Millennium Approaches. Her other Broadway credits include Angels in America: Perestroika, M. Butterfly and Racing Demon. Her film and TV credits include House of Cards, Kinsey, Perfect Stranger, Junior, Rescue Me, Law & Order, The Guardian and the 2002 TV movie adaptation of The Laramie Project.
Somewhere Fun features set design by Marsha Ginsberg, costume design by Jessica Pabst, lighting design by Japhy Weiderman, sound design by Daniel Kluger and wig design by Paul Huntley.
