The complete cast has been announced for Labyrinth Theater Company's world premiere of A Family For All Occasions. Directed by Tony nominee Philip Seymour Hoffman, the previously announced drama will begin performances April 25 at The Bank Street Theater, with an official opening night set for May 12.
A Family For All Occasions will star Tony nominee Jeffrey DeMunn as Howard, Deirdre O’Connell as May, William Jackson Harper as Oz, Justine Lupe as Sue and Charlie Saxton as Sam.
Written by Bob Glaudini, the play tells the story of Howard, who just wants to express himself, but his wife is way past listening, and his teenage kids prefer that Dad be rarely seen and never heard. So when his promiscuous daughter’s latest suitor drops by with an odd devotion to family, Howard’s prayers seem to be answered, until his home life is thrown dangerously and irrevocable off-course.
DeMunn’s Broadway credits include K2, Our Town, The Price, Bent, Spoils of War and Sleight of Hand. His film and TV credits include The Walking Dead, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Majestic and Citizen X. O’Connell was seen in Magic/Bird on Broadway. Her off-Broadway credits include The Vandal, In the Wake, The Poor Itch and Rag and Bone. O’Connell’s films and TV credits include Synecdoche, NY, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Secondhand Lions.
Harper's off-Broadway credits include Modern Terrorism, The Total Bent, Titus Andronicus, Measure for Measure, A Cool Dip in the Barren Saharan Crick, Ruined, Queens Boulevard and Paradise Park. Lupe appeared in David Chase's film Not Fade Away. Her other film and TV credits include Frances Ha, Harry’s Law and Shameless. Saxton appeared in Cat On a Hot Tin Roof on Broadway. His film and TV credits include New Girl, Workaholics and Movie 43.
A Family For All Occasions will feature scenic design by David Meyer, costume design by Gali Noy, lighting design by Seth Reiser and sound design by Jill B.C. Du Boff.
