Benjamin Walker and his wife Mamie Gummer have called it quits after nearly two years of marriage, according to Us Weekly. No reason was given for the split, but Gummer's publicist said the separation is "very new" and "very amicable."
Gummer and Walker were engaged in 2009 after meeting on the Broadway stage during a 2008 production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses. At the time, Gummer said her mother, Meryl Streep, was a big fan of Walker, who got down on one knee and proposed with a custom ring. The couple tied the knot in July 2011 at Streep's Connecticut home.
Walker recently starred as Brick Pollitt in the Broadway revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Gummer's CW show, Emily Owens, M.D., was canceled after just one season, airing its last episode in February of this year. She recently signed on to play a lesbian police detective in the CBS pilot Backstrom, co-starring with Rainn Wilson.
