The latest news over in Smash land is, well, exactly the same as it always is. NBC’s troubled Broadway soap fell in the ratings yet again after the April 2 episode “The Parents.”
TVLine reports the numbers from last night’s episode, which found Ivy squaring off with her wicked stage mother (played by Bernadette Peters) and Karen holding court with her visiting dad. The show ended NBC’s Tuesday night with 3.1 million viewers and a 0.9 ratings share, which are certainly welcomed ratings compared to the low grabs during the month of March.
Here’s a look back at Smash’s second season’s pull:
March 26 — 3.1 million viewers, 1.0 share
March 19 — 2.6 million, 0.8
March 12 — 2.9 million, 0.9
March 5 — 2.6 million, 0.7
February 26 — 3.0 million, 0.9
February 19 — 3.3 million, 0.9
February 5 (two episodes) — 4.5 million, 1.1
At this point, the ratings for the turbulent sea voyage that is Smash’s second season are about as exciting as watching Karen pick out a chunky necklace. Maybe the show will fare better when it makes its Saturday night debut this weekend.
