Get a Backstage Glimpse of the Kinky Boots Gypsy Robe Ceremony

Before the fierce and fun new musical Kinky Boots opened on April 4, the cast and creative team gathered together to honor a very important Broadway tradition: the awarding of the Gypsy Robe! On each Broadway show’s opening night, the Gypsy Robe is awarded to the chorus member who boasts the most Broadway credits. The illustrious recipient then circles the stage as company members touch the robe for good luck. The latest actor to earn the famous frock is dancer extraordinaire Charlie Sutton, who has appeared in nine Main Stem musicals, including Wicked, La Cage aux Folles and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
