As Motown: The Musical prepares to make a toe-tapping smash on Broadway when it opens on April 14, Broadway.com’s resident artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson took in the soulful new tuner and gave it the full treatment! In the latest Broadway Ink entry, the superstars of Motown get a colorful makeover, including Brandon Victor Dixon (as Motown founder Berry Gordy), Valisia LeKae (as legend Diana Ross), Raymond Luke Jr. (as Michael Jackson), Bryan Terrell Clark (as Marvin Gaye), Charl Brown (as Smokey Robinson) and Ryan Shaw (as Stevie Wonder). Check out the fabulous artwork above, and check out the equally fabulous musical at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre!
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
