Tony winners Linda Lavin and John Lloyd Young will announce the nominations for the 2013 Drama Desk Awards on April 29. The nominations were originally scheduled to be revealed on April 26, and Lavin is stepping in for the previously announced Jan Maxwell. The Drama Desk Award ceremony will take place May 19 at The Town Hall.
Lavin and Young will reveal this year’s nominees (which recognize Broadway, off-Broadway and off-off Broadway talent) during a news conference at 54 Below. The show is written by Bill Rosenfield and will be directed by the Transport Group's artistic director, Jack Cummings III.
Lavin won a Tony Award for 1987’s Broadway Bound and received additional Tony nominations for The Lyons, Collected Stories, The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, The Diary of Anne Frank and Last of the Red Hot Lovers. Her TV and film credits include Alice, Wanderlust, The Back-Up Plan, Conrad Bloom, The Sopranos, The Ring and The Muppets Take Manhattan.
Young earned a Tony, Drama Desk and Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for his role as Frankie Valli in the original Broadway cast of Jersey Boys. He recently returned to the hit musical to once again lead the Four Seasons.
