Colm Toibin's The Testament of Mary, starring Tony nominee Fiona Shaw, officially opens April 22 at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre. Directed by Tony nominee Deborah Warner, the Scott Rudin Club production will play a limited 12-week engagement through June 16.
Based on Toibin's novella of the same name, The Testament of Mary tells the unheard story of Mary, the mother of Jesus, who is being guarded and protected in the city of Ephesus after her son's Crucifixion.
The Testament of Mary marks the first collaboration between Shaw and Warner to premiere in the U.S., and features set design by Tom Pye, lighting by Jennifer Tipton, costume design by Ann Roth and music and sound design by Mel Mercier.
