Ayub Khan Din Steps Into Title Role in Bunty Berman Presents...

Ayub Khan Din will take over the title role in Bunty Berman Presents…, the New Group musical for which he wrote the music, book and lyrics. The announcement comes on the heels of the show’s original headliner, Erick Avari, stepping down after sustaining an injury during rehearsal, forcing preview performances from April 19 to April 22 to be canceled. Performances will resume with the new lead on April 24 with an official opening slated for May 9. 

Set in a 1950s studio, Bunty Berman Presents… tells the story of the title character who has long been the toast of Bombay. Unfortunately, his biggest star and best friend, Raj, is beginning to lose his luster. When their new movie consequently bombs, Bunty must navigate through divas, mobsters and ambitious tea-boys in order to keep his studio alive.

The production also features direction by Scott Elliott, choreography by Josh Prince, set design by Derek McLane, costume design by William Ivey Long and lighting design by David Lander.
