Hellooo Dolly! Well Hellooo Dolly! Casting is complete for the upcoming production of Hello, Dolly! at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Connecticut, starring Klea Blackhurst as Dolly Levi. Directed by Daniel Goldstein, the revival will begin performances June 28 and run through September 8.
In addition to Blackhurst, the cast also includes Ashley Brown as Irene Malloy, Tony nominee Tony Sheldon as Horace Vandergelder, Jeremy Morse as Barnaby Tucker, Brooke Shapiro as Ermengarde, Spencer Moses as Cornelius Hackl, Charles MacEachern as Ambrose Kemper and Catherine Blades as Minnie Fay. The Hello, Dolly! ensemble will feature Maddy Apple, Will Burton, Jack Doyle, Steve Geary, Drew Humphrey, Matthew Kilgore, Frankie Paparone, Kristyn Pope, Robbie Smith, Kathryn Lin Terza and Melodie Wolford. The swings are Melissa Chaty and Gregory Dassonville.
Hello, Dolly! features music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart. Based on Thornton Wilder’s The Matchmaker, Hello, Dolly! follows the story of Dolly Levi, a strong-willed matchmaker, as she travels to Yonkers, New York, to find a match for the miserly "well-known unmarried half-a-millionaire" Horace Vandergelder. In doing so she convinces his niece, his niece's intended, and Horace's two clerks to travel to New York City. Hello, Dolly! first opened on Broadway at the St. James Theatre in 1964, directed and choreographed by Gower Champion, and starred Carol Channing. The production won 10 Tony Awards.
