Director Carrie Cracknell’s Young Vic production of A Doll’s House will transfer to the West End for a 12-week limited engagement beginning August 8. Simon Stephens’ new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s drama will officially open on August 14 and run through October 26.
Hattie Morahan will reprise her award-winning role as Nora Helmer, with Dominic Rowan as Torvald. The cast also includes Nick Fletcher as Nils Krogstad and Steve Toussaint as Doctor Rank; additional casting will be announced shortly.
The production premiered at the Young Vic in July 2012 and returned in March 2013 for a second sold-out run. The show boasts set design by Ian MacNeill, costumes by Gabrielle Dalton, lighting design by Guy Hoare, music by Stuart Earl, sound by David McSeveney, choreography by Quinny Sacks and literal translation by Charlotte Barslund.
Written by Ibsen in 1879, A Doll’s House is a three-act drama about a wealthy woman and her financially strapped husband. It challenged traditional ideas of marriage in the nineteenth century and has since become one of the world’s most recognized plays.
