Emma Stone, who was rumored to make her Broadway debut in Roundabout’s forthcoming revival of Cabaret, will no longer star in the production, reports The New York Times. Her publicist cited scheduling conflicts with an upcoming feature film.
Stone’s involvement had not been officially announced, though she was rumored to star as Sally Bowles opposite Macbeth star Alan Cumming (reprising his Tony-winning role as the Emcee in Roundabout’s most recent revival).
Plans for the production itself were confirmed to Broadway.com in April when word of Stone’s participation first broke. Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall will return as co-directors with Marshall serving as choreographer, reprising their creative roles from the Tony-winning 1998 revival. The forthcoming production of Cabaret will open in 2014 at Studio 54.
