With the Tony Awards less than a week away(!), Broadway fans can’t help but dream about which talented actors will be recognized for their work. This year, 20 actors are nominated in the leading acting categories for this season's best musicals and plays, and we've been fantasizing about how rapturous it would feel to be one of our favorite stars' date to Broadway's biggest and most bodacious night. Broadway.com asked readers which which Tony-nominated leading star would be their dream date to the 67th Annual Tony Award celebration. Check out the results below!
1. Stephanie J. Block (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) — 27%
Blockheads unite! This fabulous Drood star earned the top spot in our poll, as fans of Stephanie J. Block couldn’t contain their excitement for the newly minted Tony nominee for Leading Actress in a Musical. No one is more qualified to guarantee an amazing, hilarious and unforgettable Tony night than Block. After following her around on her first day as a Tony nominee, we have been preparing for this date for a while.
2. Laura Osnes (Cinderella) — 27%
Who in their right mind wouldn't want to accompany Broadway's very own princess to the Tony Awards!? The Cinderella star recently confessed to Broadway.com that she would love to have Johnny Depp on her arm at the ceremony, but fans are prepared to challenge the swashbuckling Pirates of the Caribbean star to a duel for their chance to to go to the ball with this lovely lady.
3. Santino Fontana (Cinderella) — 16%
Santino Fontana is bringing classic fairytale romance back to Broadway as Prince Topher in Cinderella. Let's get one thing straight: we've been dreaming of going to a glamorous and glitzy gala with our very own prince since like...well...forever. Can you imagine telling your friends about this? "Hey, what did you do on Sunday night?" "Oh, you know, not much, just went to the Tony Awards with A PRINCE! No big deal."
