Out goes Christopher Abbott, in comes Michael Zegen! The star of last year’s off-Broadway hit Bad Jews has joined the cast of HBO’s Girls for the upcoming third season, reports Deadline.
Details of Zegen’s role and number of appearances are hush-hush for now. Given the recent departure of fellow stage vet Abbott (who played Marnie’s on-again-off-again boyfriend Charlie), Zegen could perhaps be joining the show as a replacement love interest for Allison Williams’ character.
Zegen starred last October in Roundabout’s world premiere comedy Bad Jews, and he’ll reprise his role when the company stages the show again this fall. The actor also had recurring roles on Boardwalk Empire, The Walking Dead and Rescue Me.
