Uganda’s got a new Elder Cunningham! Cody Jamison Strand has joined the cast of the Broadway production of The Book of Mormon as the bumbling missionary. Strand began performances on Broadway on May 28.
The Book of Mormon marks the Broadway debut for Strand, who comes to the Eugene O’Neill Theatre fresh off the Mormon national tour. Strand graduated from the University of South Dakota.
The Book of Mormon currently stars Matt Doyle as Elder Price, Tony winner Nikki M. James as Nabulungi, Matt Loehr as Elder McKinley and Stanley Wayne Mathis as Mafala Hatimbi. The show opened in March 2011 and won nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
The current Broadway company includes Lewis Cleale, Brian Tyree Henry, Scott Barnhardt, Will Blum, Graham Bowen, Darlesia Cearcy, Christian Delcroix, Delius Doherty, Kevin Duda, Jeff Heimbrock, Tyson Jennette, Clark Johnsen, K.J. Hippensteel, Carly Hughes, Matthew Marks, John Eric Parker, Christopher Rice, Benjamin Schrader, Michael James Scott, David Hull, Allison Semmes, Jason Michael Snow, Lawrence Stallings, Maia Nkenge Wilson, Tommar Wilson and Candice Marie Woods.
