Oscar and Tony nominee Anna Kendrick is the movie-musical “It” girl right now. The Pitch Perfect star is currently filming the big screen adaptation of The Last Five Years, and now word comes from The Hollywood Reporter that Kendrick is in talks to play Cinderella in Disney’s Into the Woods film.
Kendrick is the latest on a long list of A-list stage and screen stars attached to the big-budget movie musical. Also attached in some capacity are Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Tracey Ullman, Daniel Huttlestone and Christine Baranski. Chicago and Nine film director Rob Marshall will helm the film, with a release scheduled for spring 2014.
Kendrick received a Tony nomination at age 12 for her first acting role in the Broadway musical High Society. She went on to appear in the musical-themed movies Camp and Pitch Perfect. She earned an Oscar nomination for Up in the Air and has also appeared in The Twilight Saga and 50/50.
