Let us be glad! Let us be grateful! Broadway.com has a brand new backstage video blogger this summer: Wicked headliner Lindsay Mendez. The star will take viewers behind-the-scenes at the Gershwin Theatre in her video series: Fly Girl: Backstage at Wicked with Lindsay Mendez.
Wicked is the untold musical story of The Wizard of Oz’s Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good... before Dorothy dropped in. The long-running blockbuster recently celebrated 4,000 performances on Broadway and was voted by Broadway.com readers as the all-time best Broadway musical. Fly Girl marks the second backstage video series at Wicked; in 2010, Andy Karl hosted the unforgettable Oz Blog for Broadway.com.
Mendez made her Broadway debut as Jan in the 2007 revival of Grease. She then appeared in Everyday Rapture with Sherie Rene Scott and as the “Bless the Lord” soloist in the 2011 revival of Schwartz’s Godspell. Her off-Broadway credits include originating the role of Rose in Dogfight, for which she garnered an Outer Critics Circle and a Drama Desk nomination, and The Marvelous Wonderettes. Mendez also appeared in concert and on the recording of Ryan Scott Oliver’s 35mm: A Musical Exhibition.
Fly Girl: Backstage at Wicked with Lindsay Mendez premieres on Broadway.com on July 3, with new episodes airing every Thursday thereafter.
