Cameron Diaz Will Star as Miss Hannigan in the New Annie Remake

We love you, Miss Diaz! Screen star Cameron Diaz will make her movie musical debut as Annie villain Miss Hannigan in Will Gluck’s upcoming remake, according to E! Online. Oscar winner Sandra Bullock was in talks for the role of the wicked orphanage matron, but then dropped the project. The new Annie is aiming for a 2014 release during the holiday season.

Gluck’s contemporary remake of the Tony-winning musical Annie is set to star Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis in the title role and Oscar winner Jamie Foxx as Benjamin Stacks, a variation of the character of Daddy Warbucks.

Diaz’s vast film credits include My Best Friend’s Wedding, Charlie’s Angels, Shrek, There’s Something About Mary, The Holiday, The Holiday, Vanilla Sky, Gangs of New York, Being John Malkovich and Bad Teacher.
